Welcome to Moon Walk

Moon Walk 2009 Ended June 12!

After 10 weeks, the race is officially over. With over 3,200 participants, Quad Cities has officially retained the coveted Moon Walk walking stick by being the first to make a roundtrip to the moon and back. Congratulations!

Peoria Tri-County and Champaign County teams were neck to neck for second place but Peoria managed to edge them out in the final week. Well done everyone!

Tim Hammond of the River City Construction team logged the most miles by an individual. Tim recorded 1,333.4 miles over the 10 week period. Tim selected St. Jude Runners as the organization to receive his $100 donation. Great job Tim.

On a very positive note, with 1,792 walkers, Peoria averaged 250.6 miles per walker over the course of the race. This means our teams were really working hard and averaged more miles per walker than the other two challenge teams. Champaign County had 1,757 walkers and averaged 238.2 miles per walker to come in second place. Quad Cities averaged 216 miles per walker.

Finally, this event might be over but don’t quit the challenge. Keep your pedometers on and keep on walking “to the moon and back.” We’ll see you in 2010.

Congratulations to the following teams who won the weekly team challenges! The winners were awarded a $100 donation to the charity of their choice.
